Hayley’s Head Banger!

It’s the ice skating move that has audiences, judges, skaters… pretty much everyone on the edge of their seats, full of nerves and definitely isn’t for the faint-hearted. Just five weeks in to this year’s DOI Hayley Tamaddon attempted the dangerous move but unfortunately her performance didn’t go completely as planned; however it wasn’t the dangerous move that caused her trouble…

Poor Hayley struggled with her nerves in rehearsals and admitted she was terrified of completing the move that could potentially have devastating results if performed incorrectly! In a bid to coax the Emmerdale star along in the run up to Sunday’s show, Jayne Torvill completed her first ever Headbanger.

Hayley and partner Daniel’s upside down lift went wrong and Hayley slipped through Daniel’s arms on to the ice but Hayley got straight back up and still completed the tricky move safely. It was evident that she felt bad after her tumble and there were tears of disappointment or perhaps pain, after grazing her arm in the process.

Despite her slip up Hayley remains at the top of the scoreboard but Danniella Westbrook is hot on her heels and just a point behind.  Even though Jason still isn’t full of praise for Sharron he did comment that her performance style is improving and clearly two weeks out of the Skate Off are helping her go from strength to strength.

On the boys side, Gary Lucy has crept up the leaderboard, bypassing Danny and Kieron to occupy position no 3. Despite having the lowest score of the week, Dr. Hilary Jones remained firmly in the competition meaning that this week Heather and Kieron had to take part in the Skate Off.  Even with her bags of enthusiasm, drive and determination, Kieron’s skating proved to have the edge over Heather’s so she became the fifth star to leave the competition.

Her partner Matt was pretty emotional and as the pair left the rink he said, “Working with Heather has been the biggest challenge of my career.”
